Frequently asked questions

We supply salt and pepper, cooking oil, sachets of coffee, sugar, Dilmah tea bags, plunger coffee sachets. Kitchen towel, al- foil, cling wrap and baking paper. Spare kitchen rubbish bags, dishwashing machine powder (if applicable), washing up liquid, sponges, scourers, dish brush,  spray n wipe, a couple of cleaning cloths and tea towels. We also provide toilet paper, laundry detergent, emergency tubes of shampoo/conditioner and body wash.

So if you have any favourite sauces, dressings, herbs, etc then bring them along and don’t forget the milk!

All beds  are made up for you with commercial linen, pillows, mattress protectors, pillow protectors, duvet inners and blankets available.  We also supply bath towels, bath mats, face cloths and tea towels.

Let us do the work for you. All beds are already made up and we provide towels, bath mats, hand towels and tea towels. It is commercial linen to ensure that it is cleaned properly and within NZ health and sanitising standards. It is included in your tariff and is mandatory.

All homes and apartments are self check in. Kaikoura Holiday Homes or your booking agent will send you an email a few days prior to your arrival advising how to locate the lockbox which holds the keys. Please return the keys to the lockbox on your departure. If you are staying in an Apartment you will be supplied with a door code to access your Apartment.

We like to accommodate these requests, but it is dependent on when the previous guest left or when the next guests are arriving and how many homes we need to clean during the day. Please ask us via email or txt and we will try to accommodate your request. Ph: 0220 89 5233.

If you are prevented from getting to Kaikoura then please txt or ring us. We are happy to refund and hopefully you can make it another day. We keep a close eye on the AA website and have up to the hour information on road conditions. If you have booked through an agent such as Airbnb, Booking.com etc you will need to advise them and request a refund.

No, if you are with other people and need to go your own way while staying at the home, then please arrange with your group a mutual place to keep your keys. Be creative. However, if you do lose you keys, don’t hesitate to contact us and we will help as we do have spares.

We respectfully ask that you leave the home is a clean and tidy state. All cutlery and dishes, pots etc to be washed. Rubbish placed in large wheelie bins and recycling bins. We will take care of the rest and clean on your departure.

Yes – a general purpose spray and wipe is provided plus cleaning cloths. Also a vacuum cleaner is in every home in case there is spillage.

If you wish to add or change the number of guests staying, please go to the booking agent you booked through or if you booked with Kaikoura Holiday Homes please contact us and we are happy to help. There is an extra charge for extra guests. If the home only sleep 5 then no more than 5 guests can stay as that is how the home has been set up. There are special circumstances where we can ask the owner if an extra guest can be accommodated. Please enquire with us.  2 years of under are free.

No – the only time a tent can be put up is if you contact us and we will ask the owner, but generally not allowed.

Any home listed with a BBQ will come with a gas bottle, they are checked prior to your visit to ensure there is enough gas. If you do unfortunately run out of gas, please contact us. We respectfully ask that you clean the BBQ after use and if left is a dirty state, we reserve the right to charge an additional cleaning fee.

If the home has a log fire there will be wood supplied, newspaper and fire lighters. Can’t beat the warmth of a log fire! Our fire places are inspected yearly and certified to ensure safety.

Generally campervans/caravans are not permitted, however sometimes we can make an acception. Please contact us and we will ask the owner – there would be an additional fee.

Most homes have a fibre internet connection, but not all. That information will be displayed in the Facilities page of the web site. Instructions for WiFi are in the general information folder in the home advising of the username and password. If you have any problems with your connection, please contact us and we will endeavour to resolve this as soon as possible. Some homes are not able to provide wifi due no reception.

Your accommodation is professionally cleaned ready for your arrival. For stays longer than 5 days a mid stay linen change if offered free of charge.  We will also clean the toilet and bathroom. It is a service clean (not a full clean).

Yes, you are provided with a link to a secure credit card site and your details are held on our secure server, this is processed by a DPS payment system and we cannot access or see your full credit card details except for the expiry date and the last 4 numbers of the card.

Yes, we are happy to accept children under the care of supervisors or parents. Please be aware, guests are responsible for their welfare and safety of children. Toddlers 2 or under are free of charge.

It depends on how much notice is given but generally we cannot rebook the home so there would be no refund.

Any damage beyond ‘reasonable wear and tear’ to the property, furniture and fittings caused by guests will be charged to the guest who made the booking. Should you have a mishap, please advise us immediately.

Yes a lot of our homes do allow you to bring your family pet with you. There is a Pet Friendly tab to view all the homes that allow dogs – not all a securely fenced so please bear that in mind.

If you are bringing a dog with you please be a responsible dog owner and clean up after your dog outside and inside. If it sheds hair, please remove pet hair as much as you can.  We reserve the right to charge extra if excess cleaning is required or damage from dogs.

If you are booked with Kaikoura Holiday Homes our cancellation is as follows.

• If the booking has been made directly through Kaikoura Holiday Homes, the guest can cancel free of charge until 6 days before arrival.
• The guest will be charged the cost of the first night if they cancel within 5 days before arrival.
• If the guest does not show up on arrival date, 100% of the booking will be charged.

Other booking agencies have different cancellation policies and you would need to review your booking.
